Cooking Classes at Maple Rock Bed and Breakfast Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the format of your cooking classes?
A: All classes are hands on, which means each participant will be responsible for making 1-2 components of the meal. Depending upon the class, participants will enjoy their appetizers while cooking, and then once all cooking is done, everyone will share and enjoy their creation, which is served family style.

You will be standing, working and cooking for most of the class. Recipes are chosen so you can have fun and interact with the rest of your group.

All ingredients for each recipe are pre-measured and placed in a designated area for that recipe. All you have to do is follow the recipe and add ingredients when appropriate.

Q: How long do classes last?

A: Most classes are 2-2 ½ hours, which includes enjoying the meal with other participants.

Q: Can’t you just cook for us and we will watch?

A: Unfortunately, no. The NYS Health Department does not allow for me to prepare your food. Plus, I believe learning happens best through ‘doing.’

Q: Do we get to eat what we've made?

A: Yes. After all cooking is done, you and the other class participants will sit down family style and enjoy the meal. Any leftovers are also yours to divvy up amongst all class participants.

Q: What if I have a food allergy?

A: Please let Audrey know in advance of any food allergies. Accommodations will be made if notified at the time of registration. Unfortunately, adjustments to recipes cannot be made during the class.

 Q: How do I register for a class?

A: For all classes except Supper Club, a group of 4-8 is required to sign up. Round up a group of friends, check the cooking class calendar for available dates and email or call 315-212-4155 with your class preference and date.

For Supper Club, you do not need to round up your friends. The goal is that other foodies will sign up and you’ll make some new friends around great food. However, at least 4 people are needed to hold the class.

Q: How do I pay for a class?

A: Payment in full is required before the day of the cooking class. Arrangements can be made with Audrey at the time of registration. Your spot in a class will not be confirmed until payment has been received.

Q: What is your cancellation policy for classes?

A: Cancellations made more than 14 days in advance may request a refund or apply the cost to a later class. A full refund of a cancellation less than 14 days will be at Audrey's discretion.
